Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is one of the most advanced and precise methods used within Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) to detect numerical abnormalities (aneuploidy) across all 24 chromosomes of embryos created through IVF. NGS provides comprehensive information about the genetic health of embryos - enabling the selection of the most suitable embryo for transfer.

Chromosomal abnormalities in embryos are the most common cause of failed implantation - early pregnancy loss and genetic syndromes such as Down Syndrome in IVF treatment. NGS technology can detect chromosomal abnormalities with higher resolution and accuracy compared to other methods. This ensures that only chromosomally normal (euploid) embryos are transferred to the uterus - increasing pregnancy rates while significantly reducing the risk of miscarriage and babies born with genetic conditions.

At Gynolife IVF Center the NGS-based PGT-A process begins after embryos reach the blastocyst stage (usually day 5 or 6) during IVF treatment. A small cell sample (trophectoderm biopsy) is taken from the embryos and sent to advanced genetic laboratories. Using NGS platforms the DNA of the cells is analyzed and each chromosome number is examined in detail. After results are obtained embryos confirmed as genetically healthy are thawed and transferred to the intended mother uterus. This precise process is carefully managed by our experienced embryologists and genetic specialists.
