At Gynolife IVF Center the PGD process begins with a thorough evaluation of the couple genetic status and development of a customized PGD test. Following standard IVF/ICSI treatment eggs are collected and fertilized. When embryos reach the blastocyst stage (usually day 5 or 6) a few cells are carefully biopsied without harming the embryo. Advanced molecular genetic tests (such as PCR - FISH - NGS) are performed on these cells targeting the specific genetic disease or chromosomal anomaly. Embryos confirmed as genetically healthy are then selected for transfer to the intended mother uterus.
