Dr. Burcu Özbakır is an internationally recognized Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist and an Assistant Professor with more than twenty years of clinical, academic, and research experience in reproductive medicine. She has dedicated her career to understanding the molecular biology of human oocytes, improving IVF outcomes, and exploring the genetic foundations of female reproductive health. Her scientific work focuses on the molecular mechanisms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), gene expression dynamics in human oocytes, ovarian aging, and gestational trophoblastic diseases. Dr. Özbakır has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed international publications, book chapters, and congress presentations. Her recent research includes studies on AKT signaling, WNT/β-catenin pathways, steroidogenesis-related genes, and biomarkers affecting ovarian reserve and oocyte quality. Dr. Özbakır holds dual postgraduate degrees in Reproduction and Development from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, including a Master of Science with high distinction. She completed her medical training at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty (English program) and continued her specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Çukurova University. Her academic achievements led to her appointment as an Assistant Professor in 2017. Throughout her career, she has played key leadership roles at Near East University Hospital IVF Center, serving as the Responsible Director for many years. She has contributed extensively to medical education by coordinating Phase III, IV, and VI medical programs and training thousands of medical students, residents, and future specialists. Her professional experience includes working in leading IVF centers in Cyprus and Türkiye, and she is an active member of internationally respected organizations such as ESHRE, TJOD, TSRM, and UTCD. Dr. Özbakır continues to conduct research on folliculogenesis, CNP biomarkers, genetic variations associated with PCOS, and oocyte maturation mechanisms. Several of her scientific manuscripts are currently accepted or under review in international journals. Known for her scientific depth, compassionate patient care, and innovative contributions to reproductive medicine, Dr. Burcu Özbakır remains a prominent figure in IVF, reproductive endocrinology, and women’s health.
